Our Story

It all started with the Palo Duro Trail Run 50 Mile / 50K / 25K — and this year, we’re celebrating its 40th anniversary.

In 2025, we’re also launching two exciting new races: the 3 Chaparrals 3/6 Hour Endurance Run and the Fire-Ball Half-Marathon & 4 Mile.

The 3 Chaparrals is named in honor of Red Spicer, Bob Givens, and Tom Lowry — three of the original trailblazers of Palo Duro Canyon State Park. The Fire-Ball Half & 4 Mile is the much-requested return of the Spring Trail Run, hosted by the Lone Star Runners Club in the canyon for several years.

With the addition of these two new races, you now have the opportunity to experience the breathtaking beauty of Palo Duro Canyon across three distinct seasons.

We challenge you to run all three.
